Cara Steen
Cara Steen’s early training was with Dance Arts Academy and Company Dance Traverse. Her Senior Year, she was named “Dancer of the Year”, and earned a scholarship to attend the University of Michigan.
Cara has her BA in Dance Performance from the U of M, studying with Peter Sparling, Bill DeYoung, and Sandra Torijano among others. At U of M, Cara earned Summer Scholarships and studied with The Paul Taylor & Doug Varone Summer Workshops as well as 2 seasons at the Bates Dance Festival.
Cara taught modern, jazz, and hiphop throughout college at Dance Theater Studio in Ann Arbor, and continued teaching at DAA on her breaks. After graduation, Cara moved to New York City and worked as a personal trainer, holding the EFTI and ACE certifications, she is also a certified Vinyasa Yoga teacher, and received her Prenatal Yoga certification as well.
Cara has continued to train and teach dance for the past 6 years. In addition to inspiring our dancers, Cara dances professionally with The Michigan Dance Collective.
